Two Leyton Sixth Form College students have been shortlisted for the prestigious Walthamstow International Film Festival (WIFF).
The festival acts as a platform for short filmmakers under various categories including best animation, best drama, best experimental and young person’s film.
Hamza Ahmed's crime short 'Target' and classmate James Taasin's horror 'Shutter' were both nominated for the Matthew Martino Benevolent Fund Rising Star category at WIFF.
In Target, a deadly professional assassin is given a task by his devious boss in the urban streets of East London.
In Shutter, a young photographer goes to the local forest to take pictures of the scenery but is followed by a man who preys on him as he walks alone.
The students will find out the results of the competition next Friday (May 29) at a ceremony at The British Film Institute, followed by a screening of the entire shortlist.
They will also attend a special screening of their flims at The Empire in Walthamstow High Street on June 14 where they will be a Q&A with the young directors.
