Young sporting stars from all over London will be making a splash in Lea Valley for the 2015 Thames Water London Youth Games Regatta, next month.

A two-day sailing regatta will take place on King George V Reservoir through Chingford and Walthamstow.

Since Thames Water began supporting the event in 2008 participation has increased by 500 per cent.

The London borough of Richmond team are the defending Thames Water Regatta winners and they are among 33 borough teams hoping to rule the waves in June.

Olympic rowing gold medallist Mark Hunter, Paralympic rowing gold medallist Naomi Riches and Paralympic rowing gold medalist Tom Aggar are among those who have taken part in the London Youth Games Regatta in their early years.

A record 126,897 young Londoners took part in the record-breaking 2014 Balfour Beatty London Youth Games, taking the event to over 1 million participants since it first launched in 1977.

The Lee Valley events will take place between June 20 and 21.
