An estate agent has stepped in to help a small charity after it was hit hard by funding cuts.

Earlier this year children’s charities across the borough were told they would not receive any more funding under the ‘Youth Offer’ Programme because of ‘necessary’ cuts made by Waltham Forest council.

One of these charities was Leyton based ‘Salaam Peace’ set up by Sab Bham.

The Salaam Peace Community Engagement Programme was launched in 2009 working with people aged between two and 65 through education and sport.

Keen to keep up their success Mr Bham and his team set out to find a way to fill the funding hole, hosting events to show how much of a difference they make to the lives of children and young adults.

Last month, Hoe Street estate agents Your Move agreed to offer the support.

Mr Bham said: “We are pleased to announce that our friends and partners from Your Move have kindly offered us £10,000 to fill the gap in the funding cut.

“I thank Manish, Robert and the team at YM for their kindness and support and hope now, the support from other key players will follow.”

He also thanked all volunteers and contributors who have a “shared vision” for the youth in the borough.

The money will be given to the charity in September when the funding officially stops.
