A decision date has been set for a bid to turn a Grade II listed restaurant into flats, with a report revealing town hall planners are backing the plans.
This week, permission could given to developers to turn The British Queen, in Wanstead, into four flats with another block of eight next door.
The Grade II listed building, in New Wanstead, was converted to a restaurant from a pub in 2010 after being empty for six months.
When it was converted residents had spoken of their relief as it was claimed noise at the pub was excessive late at night.
In a council report, town hall planners said the designs were "acceptable".
It said: “The relationship of the development with neighbouring properties is considered acceptable, with no demonstrable harm to amenities.
“The development is of acceptable design and appearance.
“The scheme is not a cramped form of development or out of scale and character with the remainder of New Wanstead and is, on balance, acceptable.”
A decision by Redbridge council will be made on Thursday (May 28) evening at the Regulatory Committee at Redbridge town hall in Ilford.
