A family had a narrow escape after their bungalow caught alight this morning.
Firefighters were called to the scene in New Farm Drive in Abridge at around 12.55am following reports of a building on fire.
Two crews from Loughton, one from Epping and one from Hainault attended the blaze.
Two adults and a child were left in the care of the East of England ambulance service after breathing in smoke.
Wearing breathing apparatus and using one hose reel jet crews had extinguished the fire by 1.30am.
An investigation into the cause of the blaze is ongoing.
