A parish church is to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta with a medieval feast, theatrical entertainment and a quiz.
St Edmund's Parish Church in Larkswood Road, Chingford will celebrate the historic moment King John sealed, not signed, the Magna Carta in a meadow on the banks of the Thames on June 19 1215, with a day of fun on June 13.
Considered to be the most important document in medieval England, the Church is welcoming the community to join them for a fun day and 'medieval peasants banquet' at the Church's Ryan Hall from 11am.
Various craft stalls, children's face-painting and theatrical entertainment is scheduled to take place before the feast at 1pm.
By making a voluntary donation to the church, guests can feast themselves on medieval pottage, meat, cheese, bread, fruit, and wine in a surrounding reminscent of 13th century England.
The day will be rounded off with an evening quiz at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £5.
