A bus company has blamed disruption to a route on the construction of a major cycle improvement scheme dubbed "Mini Holland".

The W14 route, which runs between Woodford Bridge and Leyton through Wanstead and Leytonstone, has experienced “long delays” and buses regularly terminating before the end of the route at South Woodford Station or Charlie Brown’s Roundabout.

A spokesman for London Buses, a subsidiary of Transport for London, blamed the disruption on the construction of the £33million scheme in Leyton and Walthamstow.

He said: “The main issue has been due to the ‘Mini Holland’ works at the other end of the route in Waltham Forest.

“There has been a major road closure near the end of the route and this has meant long delays with the buses due to temporary lights etc.

“The road reopened Monday a.m. of this week which should help bring the service back to some sort of normality.

“However this is only the start of the 'Mini Holland’ works in Waltham Forest, but we are hoping to introduce emergency schedules to help the routes as and when required.”

Work on the scheme started in March this year.

It has divided the community with some claiming it is necessary to improve safety and the environment while others insist it will cause congestion and limit access to businesses.
