Tesco has been granted permission to extend its licensing hours at three shops in Waltham Forest.
Despite objections from councillors in Walthamstow the supermarket giant can now sell alcohol between 6am and midnight every day at three of its stores.
Previously, licensed hours were between 8am and 11am, Monday to Saturday, and 10am and 10.30pm on Sundays.
But, the council’s licensing committee granted the extension for stores in Hoe Street, Lea Bridge Road and St James’s Street, on Friday (June 12).
Councillors Mark Rusling, Saima Mahmud, Ahsan Khan, Johar Khan, Sharon Waldron and Asim Mahmood tried to block the move.
They called it ‘unnecessary’ and said it was not appropriate to sell alcohol at 6am in a residential area.
