Dinosaurs are set to come alive in a Jurassic Park-style attraction currently being built in Chingford.

Life-size animatronic prehistoric creatures are being specially flown in from China ahead of the opening of an adventure golf course in Southend Road, which is set to open at the end of July.

Adventure Experience Ltd said it has invested in excess of half-a-million pounds to build Jurassic Falls Adventure Golf, which will feature 18 holes set among half a dozen life-size robotic dinosaurs, a blood-red lagoon and a waterfall.

The company has signed a 25-year lease for the 2,000 sq metre site, which used to be Fairways Golf Range.

Six animatronic species of dinosaurs, with the biggest measuring 14m in length, are being flown 2,000km from China to Chingford to create the spectacle and are expected to arrive by July 4.

The attraction has been designed by an architect renowned for creating golf parks in Florida and is being built by Oliver Mahoney and his team at M.A.G Ltd.

This is the tenth adventure golf project for Mr Mahoney, having worked on the UK’s largest adventure golf course at the Moby Dick junction in Chadwell Heath.

Mr Maloney said: "We started in early April and its coming along really well and on schedule.

"New things have been brought forward to this project that is not seen on others.

"There will be educational features with facts and details about dinosaurs and fossils and their journey from creation to extinction."

Part of the original driving range structure has been retained and will be used as a reception area providing gifts, drinks and snacks as well as an outdoor undercover seating area.

Managing director of Adventure Experience Ltd, Scott Sinclair, said: "We wanted to try and create an environment that is family-orientated on their doorstep and one that takes them somewhere tropical.

"You can do miniature golf cheaply but adventure golf is on a grander scale.

"This will be a unique, world-class attraction on a smaller scale.

"From the roadside you will see life-size dinosaurs, gushing waterfalls and blood-red water.

"The animatronic dinosaurs will be quite a spectacle when they arrive and could create a bit of a stir along the A406.

"The local feedback I’ve had suggests there is not a lot on offer for families and we’re very passionate about getting families together."

Ticket prices range from £8.25 for adults to £3.25 for under 4's.
