A twilight market could soon be opened in the centre of Walthamstow in a bid to improve the night time economy.

Waltham Forest council, in partnership with the Greater London Authority (GLA), are asking traders who may wish to be involved to come forward.

In March, the council announced its intention to build on the ‘success’ of the daytime market and cater for the crowds being drawn to The Scene, at the top of High Street.

The authority said it hoped to make E17 a “leading cultural destination”.

More than £1.3million has been pledged to boost the night-time economy in central Walthamstow with the council’s cabinet agreeing to match fund £670,000 from the Greater London Authority.

The Market would initially run one Thursday per month, with approximately 20 to 40 stalls from August this year.

Interested parties will be required to provide a business plan and other supporting documentation.

The deadline for Expressions of Interests is July 1.
