Staff were praised as an after-school club was rated 'outstanding' by Ofsted.

Wanstead's Treehouse Afterschool Club recieved the top rating in all areas of its operation by inspectors.

The club, which meets at Grove Hall, in Grosvenor Road, was upgraded from its 2011 ‘good’ score.

Lead inspector Bushra Khan praised members of staff for helping children settle in quickly at the club.

She said: “Staff plan an exceptional range of well-resourced learning experiences that meet the needs of all children.

“As a result, children are very engaged in their learning and enjoy their time at this welcoming club.

“Staff demonstrate an extremely effective approach towards reflective practice to ensure children receive high-quality teaching and learning experiences.”

Manager Julia Saul-Watts said she was “over the moon” with the result.

She said: “All the team worked so hard to achieve this and it is really nice to be recognised like this.

“I am delighted and even the children have been saying how happy they are about it when we told them.

“I was particularly happy about the fact it mentioned how engaged the children are here, that is exactly what we are aiming for."

Treehouse Nursery, in Woodbine Place and owned by the same company, was also upgraded by Ofsted in a separate inspection.

It went from ‘requires improvement’ to ‘good’.
