Top of the league Wapping ladies A played out an entertaining goalless draw with local rivals Crostyx last Tuesday in the latest round of the Redbridge Summer League.
Wapping had a number of close chances to score in an end-to-end draw, with some particularly agonizing near misses coming from Clare Williamson.
Any hopes of scoring from the three penalty corners awarded to the Wapping side were dashed by some very quick Crostyx defenders.
Despite frustration in the opposition D, Wapping held possession well, with midfielders Helen Rogers, Claire Simes and Nina Belk all catching the eye.
Crostyx retained a threat throughout, though, and a series of penalty corners were all defended vehemently by the Wapping defence, whilst Rachel Kane cleared off the line to deny Styx their best opportunity.
The men’s A side were well beaten 5-2 at home to Redbridge and Ilford, with Ryan D’Souza and Nick Summers on target. The men’s B team beat Crostyx 3-0 thanks to strikes from Ed de Vries, Nico Aguero and Sam Peel, whilst the ladies’ B team draw 0-0 with Waltham Forest.
