Firefighters tackled a grass fire which covered an area larger than a football pitch this afternoon.
London Fire Brigade was called at 2.10pm to reports of smoke rising above a field off Roding Lane South in Clayhall.
Four fire engines were sent to the scene with 21 firefighters helping to put out the fire, which covered a hectare of grass and shrubbery, slightly larger than a football pitch.
The fire was under control by around 3.20pm and the cause is not known at this stage.
