A councillor who backed two campaigns to improve road safety for residents in Highams Park is speaking out on the power of grass-roots community activism.
Conservative Hale End and Highams Park councillor, Sheree Rackham, joined Winchester Road residents in their fight for traffic calming measures last year.
After a successful petition, Waltham Forest council revealed a set of proposals to tackle the issue last month, including making it a 20mph zone with speed humps.
A second campaign to get a pelican crossing installed in Jubilee Avenue has also been won after the council announced last week funding had been secured and work will start in the autumn.
