Members of the public will be given an opportunity to have their say on developments which could have "serious implications" for three villages.

Meetings will be held by North Weald Parish Council to update residents on a current review of the green belt by the district council and claims people in Hastingwood are being denied a voice on potential schemes in the area.

The parish council has launched a legal challenge against the district council after Hastingwood was excluded from the parish Neighbourhood Plan, which could result in residents not being consulted.

The are proposals for 2,250 homes land at Latton Priory, near the Hastingwood roundabout.

They include a business park, recreational areas and new open spaces, with “significant investment” in highways and junction improvements.

The parish council is also fighting proposals for a waste recycling centre at junction 7 of the M11.

Parish council chairman Cyril Hawkins said: "All these are major local issues which could have serious implications for the future of the whole of the North Weald Bassett parish.

“It is vital that local people have as much information as possible - and are able to find out about these issues - giving them an opportunity to get involved.”

The council is also fighting proposals for a strategic aggregate waste recycling centre at junction 7 of the M11, while also considering its views over the district council's Green Belt review.

The parish council is holding sessions on July 11, from 10.30am to 12.30pm, at Hastingwood Village Hall, and on July 12 at the North Weald Airfield Community Day.

There will also be another event on July 13 at North Weald Library in High Road, between 4.30pm and 6.30pm.

A final sessions will be held at the same time at Thornwood Parish Hall the following day.
