The sun shined on an eclectic town show yesterday (July 5) after early rain failed to dampen spirits.

The annual Epping Town Show was opened by town mayor Michael Wright just after midday, with dozens of local organisations, businesses and entertainers coming together at the Stonards Hill Recreation Ground.

The show featured a wide range of entertainment from acts including a jazz band, birds of prey, a karate group and circus performers.

Younger visitors were treated to donkey rides, a petting farm and face painting, and there was a fun fair for thrill-seekers.

Tea and homemade cakes were served by members of St John’s Church, which is currently fundraising for a new £2 million community centre.

Deputy town clerk Beverley Rumsey said: “Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make it a lovely day.”
