A £30,000 games space has been unveiled at a primary school today after they won the funding in a ‘highly competitive’ process.
Children at Coppermill Primary in Walthamstow can now enjoy the sports space outdoor play and activities, including netball.
The funding came from Sport England’s (National lottery) Primary Spaces fund which was applied for by schools across the UK.
Coppermill was awarded the maximum amount.
The investment is designed to support those schools which are in greatest need of improving outdoor facilities.
Headteacher, Mrs Figen Bektaşoğlu said: “This is a major boost for our school and our community, which I am extremely proud of.
“The children will be able to further enjoy PE and Sport within specialist play areas. This project will further significantly improve our outside environment as well encouraging the children to be active and enjoy sports.”
Installation began on June 16 and is now complete.
