A 24-hour tube strike is set to cause severe delays when it begins this afternoon.

The strike, which was confirmed yesterday, will see RMT, Unite, and TSSA members walk-out at 6.30pm today (July 8) and ASLEF members strike at 9.30pm after negotiations broke down in a row over the new Night Tube.

Unions were given until 6.30pm on Monday (July 6) to accept the offer which included a two per cent rise this year and £2,000 for drivers on the new Night Tube.

The four unions, who represent 20,000 workers, were previously offered a 0.75 per cent pay increase with an additional payment of £250 for drivers was offered.

The RMT union general secretary Mick Cash described the offer as "divisive and unacceptable".

Transport for London said: "Extra bus and river services will be running tomorrow (July 9), but roads and all public transport would be much busier than usual.

"Customers are advised to complete their Tube journeys by 6pm today and travel earlier if possible."
