COMPANIES and individuals who put forward proposals for use of the Great Hall should keep in mind the following requirements: They must be a good neighbour to other tenants in the LMO and the surrounding community.

They must bear in mind that there is no parking but the site is accessible by bus, Tube and train.

Their business must add to the culture and vitality of the area and contribute to the 2012 Olympic legacy.

They must be good business prospects.

They have a free hand to develop an idea but some possibilities include creating a performance space, use by an independent cinema, an art gallery or exhibition space, social space for event like like wedding receptions, a creche or an Olympics-related exhibition venue.

The list is by no means exhaustive.

The prize for the winning proposal is the equivalent of a year's rent-free on the lease.

It is hoped that the winner will take a ten-year lease, but five years is a possibility.

THE closing date for the competition is Thursday, May 31.

Other key dates for potential applicants to take notice of are as follows: On Friday, May 18, from 4pm, prospective entrants can tour the LMO and Great Hall.

They can also talk to experts from the Lee Valley Estate and Hiltongrove Business Space and from the council.

After the initial entries have been whittled down to five, these entrants will be invited to a "dragon's den" presentation before the judges on Thursday, June 28.

We expect to announce the winner in the Guardian on Thursday, July 12.
