A concerned mother has issued a warning to other parents after a man propositioned her young daughter in the street with cash.

Sally Prowse was paying for items in the post office in Lea Bridge Road, Leyton at 8.45am this morning when her 10-year-old daughter was heard shouting ‘no’ in the street.

After rushing outside the mother was told a man had offered her daughter Amarie, who suffers from Aspergers and Autistic behaviours, the money inside his wallet.

The 31-year-old mother said: “I ran out of the shop and confronted him. I tried to hold on to him but I couldn’t phone the police at the same time.

“I asked him ‘did you offer my daughter money?’ He just laughed it off and said it was a joke.

“I am not being funny but he could strike again.

“My child could have been kidnapped without me knowing, she is left feeling really intimidated and they are monitoring her at school.”

When Ms Prowse initially called the police she was told as there had been no offence committed there was nothing they could do.

The mother-of-two from Oliver Road said: “It is a disgrace- this needs to be taken seriously.

“I told my daughter ‘this is why mummy doesn’t let you walk to school on your own’.

“I will do anything to protect my children, I told the police they should make the arrest before I see him again because I will have to pin him down until they get there.

“I want other parents to be aware that this man is out there on the loose, threats to our children don't just exist on social media but on the street- so know where your child is at all times.”

The Metropolitan Police have been approached for comment.
