Two thieves have been caught on camera using out a distraction technique to steal cash from an ATM user in Waltham Forest.

The two men pictured are wanted in connection with theft at Barclays in Hoe Street, Walthamstow, on June 22 at around 1pm.

A woman uses the cash machine when a man wearing a dark basketball jacket approached her from behind.

He then used a piece of paper concealed in a newspaper to distract her by placing it over part of the cash machine.

She appeared to confront him before she stepped backwards and then walked into the bank to report the suspicious behaviour.

The man waited for her to turn her back and enter the bank before he took £200 cash from the machine and walked off.

His accomplice is seen on CCTV grinning in the background as the theft is carried out.

The video has been sent to the Guardian by Waltham Forest police as part of a joint venture with the Metropolitan Police to catch wanted criminals.

Anyone with information about the incident should call 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via crimestoppers-uk.org quoting the reference number 4912392/15.
