A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted rape following a double sex attack on the marshes.

Two women were chased along Leyton and Hackney Marshes last Wednesday - both incidents are being linked by police due to the timing of the attacks.

Shortly afterwards, a woman in her 20s was struck over the head near the riding centre on Lea Bridge Road.

After hitting the woman, the man tried to take her clothes off.

She managed to get away and ran to a nearby address where she alerted police.

A 20-year-old man arrested in nearby Blurton Road, E5, has also been bailed until the end of the month.
