A man has been jailed for three months after being caught filming up women's skirts at a busy underground station.

Zeynel Uclay, of Morning Lane, Hackney, was convicted of two counts of outraging public indecency and sentenced at Thames Magistrates' Court on July 8.

The 46-year-old carried out the filming on the escalators at Stratford underground station.

On June 13 2014 at around 7.30pm, he followed his first victim up the escalator as she made her way to Westfield shopping centre from the Central line.

She felt something touching her thigh, and turned to see Uclay standing directly behind her.

When she confronted him, he walked past her and she noticed he was holding a phone with the video function enabled.

Uclay was arrested after a second incident at Stratford station on August 11 2014.

A woman was on her way to Westfield's when she noticed a man watching two teenage girls.

She watched as the man gestured for them to walk ahead of him on the escalator, before he bent down to position his phone under one of the girl's skirts.

The court was told the woman alerted two British Transport Police (BTP) PCSOs who detained Uclay before colleagues arrived to arrest him.

Uclay was handed a three month sentence and ordered to pay £620 court costs and a £80 victim surcharge.

He is also banned from carrying any kind of recording or camera device in public for two years.

BTP Detective Constable, Gareth Jones, said: "Unwanted sexual behaviour will not be tolerated anywhere on the rail network.

"We are working hard with our partners at TfL on our ‘Report it to Stop it’ campaign which encourages people to report incidents such as this via our 61016 text number.

"We take every report seriously, and will pursue offenders to ensure they are brought before the courts.

"I am pleased to see that Uclay has been brought to account for his actions."

Victims of unwanted sexual behaviour can report it to BTP by text on 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40.
