Primary school pupils hosted a Royal Variety style performance ahead of their departure.

Year 6 children at Thomas Willingale School in The Broadway, Loughton, staged the musical comedy in front of parents, staff and pupils on Friday (July 24).

The 11-year-olds, who are set to start at new schools in September, performed dances and songs from key events including the Royal Wedding and the London 2012 games and films such as ET and Titanic.

Head Teacher Teresa Phillips said: "What an amazing night we had.

“The children rocked the place and we were entertained with Her Majesty the Queen, her bodyguard, and her Corgis, the Beatles, Queen, Little Mix, Take That, Girls Aloud, Rod Stewart and many more.

"We were enthralled by parodies of ET, Rocky, The Terminator, Jaws and others.

"The evening ended with a rendition of 'Up Town Funk' where children, parents and teachers all danced and sang.

“What a way to go.”
