A man has been cautioned and fined after police seized drugs and an axe during a raid in Chingford.

Bags of cannabis, class A drugs and a large axe were found at the address in Connaught Avenue, on Friday (July 24) after police acted on intelligence, which suggested drug offences were taking place at the house.

Other drug paraphernalia and goods, believed to be stolen, were seized during the raid at around 10am.

A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft and possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs.

He was taken into custody at Leyton police station where he received a caution for class drugs and a £90 fine for possession of cannabis.

No further action was taken against the theft allegation.

PC Darren Brand of Chingford Green safer neighbourhood team, said: "Chingford Green SNT acted after local intelligence suggested that drug offences were being committed at the address in Connaught Ave.

"The venue was subsequently monitored and enough evidence was gathered to apply for a search warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

"It' is great when all the hard work pays off and shows the benefits of neighbourhood policing and working closely with the community to get things done."
