Residents are being urged to share their views and experiences on fairness in Redbridge as part of a council scheme.

Groups, organisations and residents living in the borough have until August 11 to submit their views and experiences to the fairness commission.

This can be related to a specific theme health, housing or work, or can be general views on fairness or inequality in Redbridge.

The commission was launched in February and is made up of councillors and local community organisations.

They have been considering evidence at a range of themed meetings to help them to build up a picture of local priorities and decide on recommendations to make the borough a fairer place.

Meetings have covered issues including community safety, the environment, housing, young people, working and learning and getting older.

Councillor Farah Hussain, cabinet member for a fairer Redbridge, said: “I would urge anyone who hasn’t already shared their views and experiences to do it now.

“We want to do all we can to tackle poverty and inequality in Redbridge.

“To do that we need the commission to produce practical recommendations we can put into place, but to do this effectively, they must have a true picture of all of the issues the borough is facing.

“Tell us what you think and help us to become a fairer borough.”

The final meeting will focus on how Redbridge council can meet the needs of a changing population.

It takes place on August 18 from 6pm to 9.30pm at Redbridge Central Library in Ilford.

A final report, with outcomes and recommendations to be taken forward by the council, will be made available in November.
