A woman had to be cut from her car after being trapped in the wreckage of a crash for nearly an hour.

The collision between two cars happened yesterday (July 29) at 6pm in Parklands, Waltham Abbey and left her with breathing difficulties and neck pain.

Fire crews from Waltham Abbey and Loughton used two sets of specialist cutting equipment to free the woman, believed to be in her 20s, and she was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow.

An East of England Ambulance Trust spokeswoman said: "A rapid response car and an ambulance were sent to the scene to assist the woman, who was having difficulty with her breathing and also suffering from some neck pain.

"She was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for further care, but thankfully her injuries aren’t thought to be serious."
