The ‘biggest ever’ fun day held by Ascham Homes attracted 500 residents.

Waltham Forest’s council tenants and leaseholders packed into Sir George Monoux College in Walthamstow.

Residents were given the chance to question the council on the future of housing management now homes are being taken back in house.

African drummers, jugglers and other performers entertained crowds and a Thai Chi workout was on offer.

There was also a smoothie bike for people to make their own drink.

Leaseholder Nelly Chung from Hungerdown, Chingford said: “It was great to see Ascham Homes do something completely new this year and this event has helped the community come together. The paella was great too!”

Tenant Graham Wood from Wood Street in Walthamstow said: “There was such a lovely atmosphere; I nearly drifted to sleep watching the Thai Chi, it was so therapeutic.

“The smoothie bike was fantastic too, the kids absolutely loved it.”

Madeleine Forster, Chief Executive of Ascham Homes, said: “We’re really delighted to have had such a big turnout, the largest we’ve ever had for an Ascham event over the last 12 years.

“Thank you to everyone who came along and to all of those that helped make it such a successful day.”
