A flurry of students waited anxiously in Loughton this morning ahead of the revelation of their GCSE results.

A sea of envelopes and proud faces filled the main hall at Roding Valley High School in Alderton Hill, Loughton, as many students achieved the grades they had been hoping for.

Among the successful students who will be heading to sixth form next term are Rhianna Lawrence, Sophie Humphries, Naru George and Olivia Tinker.

Rhianna, who earned six A*, three A's and one B, plans on heading to Davenant Sixth Form in Loughton in September to study Mathematics, History, Economics and Business.

She said: "My experience here has been a really good one.

"Revising for my GCSE's was very stressful but worth it in the end."

Sophie, who hopes to work towards a career in finance, achieved eight A*, one A and a B in her GCSE's.

The 16-year-old plans on continuing on at Roding Valley, who will be opening their sixth form for the first time in September.

She said: "My GCSE's were quite hard but I am so pleased with my results.

"I am going to study Mathematics, French, Economics and Government and Politics here.

"I am very excited as it will be the sixth forms first year.

"I hope to help lead it to success in my A-Levels."

Naru was named the school's top achiever for 2015 after it was announced that he had achieved 12 A* GCSE's, including Japanese which he sat age 11.

He said: "I sort of expected to do well but I was surprised to see how well when I saw my results.

"I am going to Trinity next term to study the sciences.

"I hope after that to go to university and study chemical engineering."

Olivia said she was 'overwhelmed' when her envelope revealed her six A* and six A GCSE's.

She said: "I will be heading to Davenant to study English Literature, History, French and Religious Education.

"After A-Level I hope to go to university to study History.

"GCSE's were so stressful but worth it.

"I am looking forward to the future but will miss this school."
