Pupils are preparing to enrol at a school's brand new sixth form building after achieving "fantastic" GCSE results.

Headteacher Andy Stone at Holy Family Catholic School in Shernall Street, Walthamstow, said he is exciting at the prospect of inviting back the majority of students in September.

Results for yesterday show 67 per cent of pupils achieved five GCSE's at grade A* to C, and almost 60 per cent got A* to C including English and maths.

There were some outstanding results from pupil's Charlotte Connal who achieved ten A* grades and two A's, Eimante Raupelyte who got seven A*s and five A grades, and Sarah Roberrts with five A*'s and six A grades, among many others.

Headteacher Dr Stone, said: "We are really looking forward to welcoming the majority of students back into our sixth form where they will be the first cohort to make use of our brand new sixth form building with its state of the art study facilities.

"At Holy Family, we have always prided ourselves on ensuring that students take advantage of the number of GCSEs that are available to them, despite the challenges.

"Congratulations to all our students and thanks to teachers and staff for their hard work and to parents for their support."

Several pupils took some of their exams early and achieved A* and A grades in core subjects.
