An investigation into the tragic death of a man in Walthamstow has now been confirmed by the authority.

Lukasz Costazzo, 30, was killed in June at Low Hall Conservation area by a falling tree.

Details of the investigation only emerged this week, confirmed by union UNISON.

Mr Costazzo was in a 'wooded area' as a member of the public.

His death sparked a Health and Safety Executive (HSE) investigation into whether or not the trees on the site were being properly managed.

Speaking about the investigation councillor Clyde Loakes, deputy leader of Waltham Forest council said: “This is a terrible tragedy and our heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family and friends of the gentleman concerned.

“The safety of our residents, visitors and employees is of the utmost importance to us. We are continuing to work with the Health and Safety Executive as they investigate this matter and are therefore unable to comment further at this time.”
