Essex Police have revealed the name of their latest recruit, Casper the four-week-old puppy.
Following a poll, which was announced last week, residents decided whether the last of eight puppies would be named Chaos, Cuba, Casper or Costa.
German Shepherd, Flame, gave birth to the healthy litter at a unit in Sandon on August 5.
Seven of the new furry recruits had already been named Cilla, Cola, Cairo, Carter, Chester, Cain and Comet based on the litters chosen letter 'C'.
The eighth dog, which was born into the litter of five boys and three girls, was subject to a poll which determined his name.
A total of 2,116 people voted with Casper claiming 39 per cent of the vote, Chaos finishing in second place, Costa in third and Cuba in fourth.
Dog Unit Inspector Brad Dickel said: "Iād like to take the opportunity to thank everyone that voted for one of the names.
"I have every confidence that Casper will go on to become an excellent police dog for many years and a welcome addition to the team.ā
