An investigation has been launched after a man was shot in a quiet residential road.

Police were called to Brettenham Road, Walthamstow at 11.40pm on August 30 to reports of a non-fatal shooting.

They found a 20-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his shoulder.

He was taken to hospital as a priority but has since been released.

Officers from the Met’s Trident Gang Command are investigating.

It was initially unconfirmed what weapon was used in the attack but despite not recovering any firearms from the scene police believe a gun was used.

Forensic officers were seen huddled around a tree investigating a potential bullet hole after a neighbour reported seeing ‘two flashes of light’ she believed to be lightning.

No arrests have been made.
