People interested in fostering can find out more at an information evening being held today.
Foster parents provide a caring, safe home for a child or young person until the time is right for them to return home or move into a permanent family.
Redbridge council said it needs a constant supply of local people from all backgrounds, cultures and ethnic groups who are willing to take on this task.
To foster, you can be single, married, working, unemployed or retired.
Weekly allowances range from £288 to £441 per week.
The information session will take place on tonight (September 3) from 6.30pm at Wanstead Library, in Spratt Hall Road.
