A schoolgirl who was turned away on her first day of term has been offered a place at her chosen school, after her original offer was withdrawn.

Audrey Morgan of Skeltons Lane in Leyton was left upset and angry when she was told her daughter Quashauna no longer had a place at Woodbridge High School.

Waltham Forest council had withdrawn the offer, but Miss Morgan said she was never informed.

After shelling out on the uniform and looking forward to her daughter’s fresh start, the-43-year-old said she was only informed of the issue, last week.

The school in Woodford Green had called her to ask her to come and collect her child, hours into the first day.

Although it is still not clear why the offer was withdrawn, Cllr Mark Rusling, the council’s cabinet member for children and young people, said the issue has now been resolved.

“We understand that Woodbridge High School has now been able to offer Ms Morgan’s daughter a place there instead, and she has chosen to accept it.”

Miss Morgan said she and her daughter are overjoyed that she will be able to start at the school tomorrow.
