Residents are set to embark on a two hour bike ride in a bid to ‘cycle for health’.

The event, which will take place on this year’s Silver Sunday (October 4), will see people aged 50 and above meet up and take part in a free cycling session.

Silver Sunday is an annual day of fun and free activities for older people across the UK which aims to combat loneliness and isolation in older residents.

Over 50’s, either alone or with family and friends, are invited to meet at Hooks Marsh car park in Fishers Green Lane, Waltham Abbey, at 10am.

Cyclists will travel north along the tow path of the Lee Valley Canal to the outskirts of Broxbourne before stopping for a tea break and returning back to the meeting point through Seventy Acres lake.

Admission to the ‘cycling for health’ event is free and bike and helmet hire is available.
