Cash was stolen after a tube station shop was burgled in the early hours of the morning.

British Transport Police were called to the scene at Debden Underground Station in Chigwell Lane, Loughton, at around 12.25am following reports of a break-in.

Officers attended the scene and discovered a snack shop located in the entrance of the station had been targetted.

Thieves had smashed their way into the shop and stolen cash.

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: “Our officers were called to Debden underground station to reports of a burglary on Tuesday, 15 September.

“The call came into police at 12.24am.

“Officers from BTP attended the scene and found a shop in the station had been broken into and cash stolen.

“Officers are carrying out enquiries into the nature of the incident."
