An annual community hog roast has raised £3,000 of much-needed funds for a disability charity.

The Revitalise event, which was organised by The Friends of Revitalise Jubilee Lodge, saw crowds of people gather to help raise money for the centre in Grange Farm Lane in Chigwell on Sunday (September 13).

The money is set to go towards providing respite holidays for disabled people and carers.

The annual fundraising Hog Roast, which celebrated its 10th year, was hosted at Garnish Hall in Theydon Garnon and was attended by around 150 guests.

Among those in attendance were Revitalise Trustee Linda Beaney and long-standing supporters from local construction family Olive and Stephen Higgins.

As well as a Hog Roast lunch, the guests enjoyed entertainment and activities including music by ‘Second Nature,’ an art exhibition showcasing local talent and stalls selling cakes, handicrafts, produce and books.

Friend of Revitalise Jubilee Lodge Ros Dover commented: "What a wonderful day we have had at this year’s Hog Roast.

"When we first organised this event 10 years ago we never dreamt that it would still be going strong after all these years.

“For the past decade we have had amazing support from fellow locals, many of whom have returned year after year, and have always been so receptive of our efforts to raise money in support of Revitalise Jubilee Lodge and its guests.

"I cannot thank you enough."
