A person was killed after they were hit by a train at Walthamstow Central Station this morning.

The person who reportedly 'fell' onto the tracks infront of an Overground train was killed, police said.

Commuters have taken to Twitter to describe the 'horrifying scene'.

A British Transport Police spokesman said 9.30am: “We are currently in attendance at Walthamstow Central station following a report of a person struck by a train shortly before 8.30am.

“Colleagues from the Metropolitan Police Service and London Ambulance Service are also in attendance, and a person has been pronounced dead at the scene.

“Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family.

“The incident is not believed to be suspicious at this stage.”
