A muddy young athlete has raised over £1,000 for his grandfather's Parkinson's support group by completing a gruelling assault course.

Harry Sullam, finished his first ever Nuclear Rookie Race on Saturday (September 19) in Brentwood and donations have been flooding in since, smashing his target of £250 for the Buckhurst Parkinson’s group that supports his grandad Mick.

The 11-year- old, who attends Selwyn Primary School in Highams park, completed the three kilometre assault course scaling obstacles and battling the muddy terrain.

His mother Jenny Sullam, who lives in Tudor Road, Chingford said: “The physical achievement alone is pretty awesome but what makes it even more amazing is that he did it to raise money for his grandad's Parkinsons support group.

“The group was set up to provide help, support, advice and assistance for people with Parkinsons and their carers.

His 73-year-old grandfather Mick said: "I think its so wonderful that Harry thinks of other people who need help.

"The money raised will be greatly appreciated by everyone associated with the Buckhurst Parkinson's support group.

"I am a very proud Grandad."
