Two brothers are on trial accused of kidnapping a teenager they thought was part of a rival gang.

Arber Syla, 21, and Liljan Syla, 19, formerly of Aldriche Way, Highams Park, are accused along with Delston Galloway, 19, of kidnapping and conspiracy to commit false imprisonment.

All three men deny kidnapping the teenager as he waited for a bus to take him to school on April 7.

The older brother allegedly approached the victim, who was 15 at the time and cannot be named for legal reasons, and grabbed him before forcing him into a blue car.

According to the victim during his video interview with police, which was shown today (September 28) at Snaresbrook Crown Court, he told officers he was elbowed in the face and punched in the ribs during a "struggle" to escape.

The victim told police he was driven around for 45 minutes before being taken to a flat on an estate where he was questioned about his alleged links to a rival gang in Waltham Forest.

The court heard how he was kept there against his will for hours and had his phone taken and searched.

Eventually, the trio were convinced he was not the person they were looking for and let him go.

The trial continues and is expected to conclude on Friday.
