A top Epping Forest doctor has encouraged smokers to put out their cigarettes for the last time and sign up for Stoptober.

Dr Christine Moss, a Buckhurst Hill GP and clinical director for the NHS, has invited people to take part in the 28-day challenge starting tomorrow (October 1).

Over a quarter of a million people took part nationwide last year, and this year Stoptober has been backed by comedians including Bill Bailey and ‘Pub Landlord’ Al Murray.

Dr Moss said: “Stopping smoking is always a challenge but by signing up to the Stoptober mass quit attempt you’ll be joining thousands of people making a positive change to their wellbeing.

“By stopping smoking for 28 days you are five times more likely to stop for good so this is the perfect time to sign up to receive the support you need.”
