An appeal has been launched to find people who could “catch the volunteering bug” by giving time to help others.

Voluntary Action Epping Forest (VAEF) is seeking people who want to make a difference to the community at one of three different opportunities.

Volunteers are needed at a new day centre for homeless people in Epping Forest, based at St Mary’s Church Hall in Theydon Bois.

Participants will help provide meals, clean clothes and a place to wash for those in need.

The Stroke Club in Loughton, which meets on one Tuesday every month, provides informal meetings for stroke sufferers and carers for mutual support.

The club needs volunteers to meet and greet members and help arrange activities.

Rotaract, a rotary club for people aged between 18 and 30-years-old, also needs new volunteers and members who can give time and skills in a variety of ways to improve lives across the community.

The appeal for the three roles is being led by VAEF, a non-profit organisation aiming to help people in need across society.

VAEF officer Nina Gavens said: “Volunteering is a great way to meet new people.

“Some roles are excellent for keeping fit.

“Whatever you do you will be involved with your local community, which benefits all of us.

“Apply to volunteer with us today and you will soon see the difference you can make - you may catch the volunteering bug too.”
