A PETROL garage which wanted to sell alcohol 24/7 has had permission granted ‘in part’ by the council.
The BP Garage and Spar in Leyton High Road will now be able to sell booze for 18 hours per day, seven days a week after a decision made by Waltham Forest council’s licensing committee on Friday (October 2).
Malthurst Ltd was seeking permission to sell alcohol for consumption off the premises every hour of every day but a compromise was found.
Neighbouring homes objected to the application, as well as ward councillors, over fears it would encourage more street drinking.
The sub-committee granted changes to the licence to allow the Spar shop to sell alcoholic drinks from 6am until midnight.
Conditions were also added, including one to make sure litter was picked up around the site.
The previous licence covered the sale of alcohol between 8am and 11pm.
