A man living close to the site of the fatal plane crash this weekend has said his house ‘shook so hard he thought a bomb went off’.

Dal Heer, aged 34, lives just 150m from where the eight-seater Beechcraft King Air 200 went to ground near Gravel Lane, Chigwell, killing both people on board.

Mr Heer was at home as the plane crashed at about 10.20am on Saturday (October 3).

He said: “I was inside and heard the noise, the sound of a plane diving.

“It made that kind of screeching, high-pitched, whining noise before the impact.

“It was a real nose-dive sound and then just an explosion.

“It just shook my house so hard I thought a bomb had gone off somewhere.”

Running outside, Mr Heer said he first saw where the plane had crashed after climbing onto a balcony.

“I went up and could see the fire.

“I knew it was a plane because there is the flight route from Stapleford Abbotts.”

He was second at the scene of the crash, which killed two experienced and professional pilots.

Mr Heer said: “I ran out there, to see if there was anything I could do, but it was too late.

“You immediately feel sorry for the family and friends of the people on board.

“I think there is also the thought that goes through your head, it could have gone down on my house, that could have been it.”

Videos have emerged of the aftermath of the impact, with pieces of wreckage scattered over a large area.

Some pieces of the plane, such as a wheel, can clearly be seen in the images although most are too small to make out.

Intense fires are also seen raging close to the field’s treeline.

Essex Police and air accident investigators are still working at the crash site, and a cordon is expected to remain in place today as the recovery operation continues.
