An 18-year-old Chingford drug dealer was among three others jailed yesterday following a police operation in north London.

The suspected gang members were responsible for drug dealing in the Tottenham area and were arrested following an operation earlier this year by officers from the Trident Command Gangs Unit.

Yesterday (October 6), four were jailed at Wood Green Crown Court, including Shabazz Gooden, 18, of Waltham Way, Chingford.

He was sentenced to one year and four months for supplying cocaine, a Class A drug.

On September, ten others were jailed a total of 21 years and eight months at Wood Green Crown Court.

Among these was Bradley Boateng, 19, of Fairview Close, Walthamstow, who was sentenced to two years and eight months for supplying cocaine and cannabis, Class A and B drugs.

Under Operation Kavush back in May, police launched an operation to target drug dealers in Haringey.

These were individuals believed to be involved in serious youth violence and knife-related crime in the borough.

On August 12, there were 15 searches at addresses in Haringey, Waltham Forest, Enfield and Croydon, and a total of 15 arrests were made.

Detective Inspector Hayley Guest from Trident said: "The criminal activities of this group caused misery to local residents, businesses and schools.

“They created a hostile environment to live and work in due to their level of offending, and the violence and anti-social behaviour displayed.

“This investigation has had a positive impact on the community as measured in recent feedback to both police and the council."

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Trevers from Haringey Borough said: "This result should send out a strong signal to those involved in blighting communities with drug dealing that we are watching them and will not tolerate this activity.

“The Haringey Integrated Gangs Unit now includes gang workers, who will help those involved with gangs to see that there is an alternative lifestyle.

“We have a simple message to gang members: if you want to change we will help you; if you don't we will challenge you through enforcement.

“Trident will continue to work very closely with the borough in the future."
