An A level student elected as head boy at a sixth form met the prime minister at his 10 Downing Street home as part of a work placement.

Year 13 pupil Jack Tait spent the last two weeks of the summer holidays working in David Cameron's office at the House of Commons following a rigorous selection process by the Social Mobility Foundation.

The Highams Park School pupil beat of 12 students from across London to get the placement, where he spent his time helping Cameron's Witney constituents and working with cabinet ministers.

He spent his final day being given a tour of 10 Downing Street by the PM himself.

"This is not something that many people get to do and I feel very proud and privileged to have been able to do so," said Jack.

"It was a two week period that taught me an awful lot and one that I will never forget."
