Two beloved beards got the chop for charity on Tuesday night (October 6).
At the Theydon Oak pub in Epping, manager Iain Moran and Stuart Poulton braved the shave as they raised thousands of pounds for Haven House, a children’s hospice in Woodford Green.
With more than £4,000 raised by last week, Mr Moran said the prospect of losing his beard had been daunting but he enjoyed the chance to raise money for a good cause.
He said: “I love my beard, I have had it for the last 10 years but I have been growing it consistently for two years.
“I love it, my kids love it but we do a lot for Haven House and it just sounded right, to do something to raise money.
“I have got young kids, if they were in the same situation we would need somewhere like that.”
He added: “We enjoy doing a lot for charity and it is something a bit different for the pub as well.
“I have just lost four and a half stone so it will be a total change, but all for a good cause.”
