Pupils had an “inspirational” visit from a renowned poet this week as a school celebrated its annual poetry week.
Chrissy Gittins, whose collections include I Don't Want an Avocado for an Uncle and Stars in Jars, visited Hereward primary school on Monday (October 5).
She recited from her books to staff and pupils at the Loughton school and a number of classes had the chance to take part in poetry workshops with the writer.
English teacher Latoya Ekrem said: “It was wonderful to have such a renowned poet visit the school.
“She kick-started our poetry week with her enthusiasm for her craft.”
