The servicemen and women lost in the two World Wars and later conflicts will be remembered this Sunday (November 8), with events planned across Epping Forest.

Thousands of people across the district will gather for the Remembrance Sunday church services, wreath-laying ceremonies and parades as they pay tribute to those who gave their lives for their country.

The event details are as follows:

In Epping, the traditional parade is not happening but a short service and wreath laying will be held at the war memorial at 2pm.

A service will follow at St John’s Church from 3pm.

In Loughton, proceedings start at the Royal British Legion at 11.45am, followed by a wreath laying at midday at Kings Green.

A salute will be taken on Brooklyn Parade at 1pm.

Remembrance services begin at 9am in Waltham Abbey at St Thomas’ Church, Upshire, before moving to the Waltham Abbey war memorial at 10am.

There will be a service at Waltham Abbey Church at 10.45am.

In Chigwell, St Mary’s Church will hold a service and wreath laying from 10.40am.

The Ongar act of remembrance will be held at 2.30pm at the war memorial in Fyfield Road, with services beginning in High Ongar at the primary school opposite St Mary’s Church at 10.30am.

A wreath laying will be held at 11.15am.

People in Theydon Bois will come together at 10.30am at St Mary’s Church for a service and wreath laying, with a service in Abridge from 10am at Lambourne Church.

In Buckhurst Hill, a church service and wreath laying will run from 10.30am at St John’s Church.

St Andrew’s Church will host a service and wreath laying in North Weald from 10.45am, with a memorial service and another wreath laying at the airfield from 12.10pm.

Commemoration begins at 10.45am at All Saints Church in Nazeing and 10.30am at St Peter’s Church in Roydon.
